The Renault R-35 was a popular French light infantry tank (Char légere model 1935R) from the early period of World War II. The R-35 was the successor to the ancient Renault FT-17 tank, dating back to the Great War. The advantage of the tank was its modern design and armor that was quite good for that time. The disadvantages were certainly the engine with weak performance and the single-person turret forcing the vehicle commander to perform duties intended for several crew members in other tank designs. The 37mm gun, dating back to the Great War, was no longer highly effective.
Poland purchased 100 Renault R-35 tanks from France. In July 1939 the first batch of approximately 50 units arrived. They were used in September 1939. In the face of defeat, some of the machines were sent to Romania and Hungary. The transport of another 50 units did not manage to reach Poland.
The model, reproduced in a scale of 1:48, can be built from 258 bricks. Movable caterpillar traction, rotating turret, prints, double Polish and French emblems and the included environmental elements (a fragment of a fence, a tree, vegetation) make it an ideal set for both play and display. A clear and intuitive manual also easily guides the builder through the subsequent stages of assembling the vehicle. High-quality, durable prints improve the aesthetics of the model, as well.
