The F-35®A LIGHTNING II® is a single-seat, multirole fighter designed by Lockheed Martin. The F-35 version A is a conventional take-off and landing aircraft designed to replace the U.S. Air Force's F-16 Fighting Falcon and A-10 Thunderbolt II. It is one of the hottest exports of the American defense industry. Since the second decade of the twenty-first century, it has been entering the equipment of air forces in many countries of the world. On 31 January 2020 Poland has signed a contract for the purchase of 5th generation fighters. 32 conventional take-off and landing F-35As were ordered with initial deliveries starting in 2024. The first planes will go to the air base in Łask in 2026. Efforts are underway to speed up deliveries! Poland becomes the 14th country in the world and the 10th NATO country to join the F-35 program.

The set has been carefully designed in a 1:48 scale model. Specially designed for this set, the bricks have been covered with high-quality prints. The characteristic pilot's cabin is made in a very realistic way and can be opened to accommodate a figure of a pilot equipped with a helmet and an oxygen mask with a hose. F-35®A LIGHTNING II® is the lightest version of the aircraft, capable of close support missions, bombing and typical fighter air combat tasks. The F-35 is a supersonic aircraft with reduced flight detectability, has high capabilities for reconnaissance and electronic warfare, detection, tracking, targeting and jamming.
The shooting armament is a 12 mm GAU-25/U cannon mounted inside the
hull The missile armament consists of up to 6 AIM-120 AMRAAM, AIM-9X Sidewinder or AIM-132 ASRAAM missiles in internal ammunition chambers or two air-to-air missiles and two bombs weighing 455 kg. Weapons for destroying ground targets can be JSOW or GBU-39 SDB bombs (4 each in the bomb bay), Brimstone anti-tank missiles, cluster bombs, or AGM-88 HARM anti-radar missiles. At the price of losing stealth property, armament can be suspended to four underwing nodes and two at the wing ends (for AIM-9).
The aircraft project is jointly funded by the governments of the United States, Great Britain and other countries interested in purchasing this machine. The F-35®B LIGHTNING II® was built under the direction of Lockheed Martin, in collaboration with BAE Systems and Northrop Grumman.
